BACKGROUND

The Somali National University (SNU) is a prestigious national institution of higher education in Somalia. Established in 1954, SNU serves as a leading educational hub in the country. Founded with a vision to provide quality education and promote research, the university has continuously evolved to meet the changing needs of its students and the society at large.

HISTORY

Over the decades, The Somali National University (SNU) has witnessed significant challenges, growth and development, adapting to the changing educational landscape and the needs of the nation. Due to the civil war in 1990, the university faced closure and it was reopened in August 2014 by the president of the Federa Republic of Somlia Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to continue playing a crucial role in rebuilding and advancing the educational standards in Somalia.
